Environment and HS2 (High Speed 2)

I very much hope that HS2 will not spoil to a great degree our present environment.

The HS2 sheets include the statements

*More Capacity, Cutting carbon and better connectivity
*
HS2 is Britain’s biggest environment project, delivering miles of ecological and landscape investments alongside construction

*Carbon - HS2 will be the low carbon option for long distance travel
emitting 17 times less carbon than the equivalent domestic flight and 7
times less carbon then the equivalent car journey.

When they cut down the trees they will be destroying the ecology which is already there and it will take several lifetimes to be fully restored.
They show a picture of a sapling - a young tree about 30 cms high. How many years is it going to take to mature to replace the one which has been cut down?
They are going to replace parts of woods with saplings.

I have put together vocabularies and poetry aids so children can write either prose or poetry about our woods and trees. The writing. when completed, could then be transfered to the best copy sheets In the Woods and Trees I have included a short essay about the importance of trees.
