Take learners from “I don’t know where to start” to a finished, checked piece of Level 2 writing, one clear step at a time.

Four guided booklets teach the text types learners meet most often: article, report, formal letter and email. Each booklet walks through the same route, so the method becomes a habit: understand the task, see the layout, shape the writing, plan, choose language (with a phrase bank), proofread, develop and justify, then draft, improve and write a final version. A new independent task at the end checks that learners can do it alone.

The Writing Scaffolding Toolkit adds six shorter writing situations, each with a short plan and one paragraph to practise before a full response: a formal letter about a fee increase, a report on compressed hours, a blog about moving back home, an email putting a booking mistake right, an explanation of a lift-share scheme and a narrative.

What’s included (182 A4 pages, 10 PDFs)

  • 4 student booklets (18–19 pages each) and 4 teacher copies (14 pages each) with model responses for the guided and the independent task, plus feedback and revision guidance.
  • Scaffolding Toolkit: student copy (24 pages) and teacher copy (29 pages), including reusable response pages.

Why tutors use it

  • Builds the skills behind the marks: planning, paragraphing, register and proofreading.
  • Works for whole-class teaching, small groups or independent study.
  • Fictional situations with no research needed; learners can add realistic details.
  • Clean, modern design with plenty of writing space.

Independent teaching and practice resource. Not an official or endorsed assessment paper.
