This is based on the new Elizabethan Historical Environment study for AQA GCSE.
This is two lessons combined to consider the threat that Mary Queen of Scots provided Elizabeth with.
The lessons start with a recap family tree, with hints, followed by a video link which gives pupils background on MQS (with a timeline worksheet to accompany the video).
Pupils then use previous knowledge to compare the two Queens, with guided questioning, before considering Mary's need to go to Elizabeth (with a highlighting task).
Pupils then look at the first three plots independently, before feedback to the class (answers on the powerpoint, and access to AQA Elizabethan England textbook p73-75 needed).
Pupils then watch a short BBC clip about the Babington plot, and complete an 8 mark exam style question focussing on the level of threat provided by MQS to Elizabeth (Markscheme and sentence starters included).
