The AI Assessment Scale (AIAS), created by Mike Perkins, Leon Furze, Jasper Roe, and Jason MacVaugh, was first released in 2023 and later refined in Version 2 (2024). It offers a detailed and flexible framework for incorporating AI into educational assessment practices.
AI Assessment Scale (AIAS) is a practical framework to guide the appropriate and ethical use of generative AI in assessment design, empowering educators to make purposeful, evidence-based decisions.
Since its launch, the AIAS has been embraced by hundreds of schools and universities around the world and translated into over 30 languages. It is also recognised by the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency in its 2024 report as a valuable approach to supporting the integration of generative AI in assessment.
