Two lessons -
- PowerPoint describes how Sodium and Chloride ions are formed from Sodium and Chlorine atoms.
When I did this, I got the Students to use paper plates and sequins to make models of the sodium and chlorine atoms, as I went through the PowerPoint. They then converted these models to ions, making Sodium Chloride.
- The 2nd part of the PowerPoint is printed as A5 worksheets, to develop ideas for monatomic ion formation and ionic bonding.
