Two lessons -

  1. PowerPoint describes how Sodium and Chloride ions are formed from Sodium and Chlorine atoms.

When I did this, I got the Students to use paper plates and sequins to make models of the sodium and chlorine atoms, as I went through the PowerPoint. They then converted these models to ions, making Sodium Chloride.

  1. The 2nd part of the PowerPoint is printed as A5 worksheets, to develop ideas for monatomic ion formation and ionic bonding.
