This booklet is intended for students (and teachers) studying the poetry of John Keats on AQA Literature B Aspects of Tragedy.

It is a 18 page, nearly 11,000 word document suitable for use as a secondary text for studying with the play during first reading or during revision.

It includes:

  • Full, detailed summaries of every poem (La Belle Dam sans Merci, The Eve of St Agnes, Lamia, and Isabella (or the Pot of Basil)
  • A breakdown of where a suggested aspect of tragedy appears in each poem
  • Close study questions of each poem (which can function as independent revision or for homework)
  • These aspects of tragedy are the opinions of the author, and not exhaustive, and are intended as prompts for students to begin thinking of the text in the terms of the tragedy genre.
