Lesson 1: Defining slavery and freedom- lesson based around understanding vocabulary and terminology. Activities: baseline assessment on pictures; matching vocab and definition

Lesson 2: Why did slavery exist? The Triangular slave trade. Activities: diamond 9 on the reasons slavery existed; slave trade map and want/need table

Lesson 3: The Middle Passage. Activities: primary sources of evidence and differentiated questions surrounding them

Lesson 4: Slave auctions, life on the plantations. Activities: Sources of evidence and differentiated questions surrounding them

Lesson 5: The Abolitionists. Activities: Sorting arguments into for and against slavery; abolitionist fact files (justifying most important); creating anti-slavery leaflet/poster/speech
