A code breaker puzzle on multiplying and dividing fractions. Students work out each calculation, simplify the answer, then look it up in the Code Box to unlock a letter. The thirteen letters unscramble to the name of a dessert.
The first six calculations multiply two fractions, some of which need simplifying, and the last seven divide one fraction by another.
The Code Box includes deliberate traps. A student who multiplies instead of dividing on the division questions lands on answers such as 1/8, 1/9, 4/15, 3/16 and 15/32, each of which unlocks a letter that is not in the answer, so the mistake shows up when the letters will not unscramble.
Answers are included as a separate file. Two copies per A4.
Suitable for GCSE Foundation (AQA N8) and for Key Stage 3 classes working on multiplying and dividing fractions.
