This is a full unit of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, for use in K-6 music classrooms OR in a classroom for a teacher that loves music! This unit includes not only a 25 slide Powerpoint for use with your students, but also a 17 page Teacher’s Guide to this unit, full of activities that include movement, singing, writing rhythms and creating melodies, playing instruments, creating art, suggestions for literature connections and core connections, and much more.

This carefully designed unit examines 8 movements of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Each lesson includes a huge variety of activities that could be used to simply spend one class on a movement, or to spend two weeks on each movement. Spend a week on Mussorgsky, or a whole semester! The resources are here to allow you to do either. Help your students to experience quality program music while engaging in Russian history and art.

As many of the activities are easily adaptable, this unit can be used in classrooms from Kindergarten through Grade 6, and even up into 7-9! As a bonus, I have included an outline of a one hour concert focused on Pictures at an Exhibition that includes students from K-6.

This unit would work wonderfully as a school project, where music teacher and classroom teachers work cooperatively, or as simply a music room or classroom based activity.

Find out how EASY it is to get your students engaged in classical music, and let me handle the planning! All you have to do is decide which activities are most relevant to your students, since you know them best!

Enjoy this unit, and please feel free to contact me for any more information.
