The 2nd part of a series that introduces Strophic, Binary & Ternary form to K-3 children. The forms are presented through images & shapes, musical works, short rhythms & melodies and stories.

A colourful Power Point Presentation offers definitions and examples for each form. It also suggests the use of rythmic and melodic motifs to help children create their first forms very easily. This presentation can be completed in 45 minutes.

31 Worksheets help children deepen their undestanding.
They ask children to

  1. draw a circle around the line that shows the form indicated in the instructions,
  2. write the form to which each sequence of images/motifs belongs,
  3. draw/write the missing part in each sequence, so that the requested form is completed,
  4. identify whether the pieces of music they listen to are in Strophic, Binary, or Ternary form,
  5. explore example stories that correspond to each musical form.

Images and shapes help provide a visual representation of the concept of form, making it easier for children to understand.

Shapes can be used as graphic scores played with any kind of sound. Motifs can be easily invented by children giving them the opportunity to create their own music.

Stories make children understand deeper the notion of structure. Playing them with music accompaniment makes music lesson fun and engaging and above all multi-sensory.

Can be easily used by subs.
