This resource is for KS4 students. It consists of a presentation and a worksheet. Worked solutions to all the questions on the worksheet are included in the presentation.

The lesson starts by revising finding the probability of an event not happening.

Tree diagrams are then explained. Student understanding is checked by a scaffolded activity that requires students to complete 3 tree diagrams.

The use of tree diagrams to find the probability of two events is then explained. Student understanding is checked by mini white board work.

An example of a question is shown. Students then finish the lesson by completing a worksheet consisting of 2 questions with a completed tree, 2 with a tree diagram without probabilities and 4 requiring students to construct the tree diagram.
