Resource describes boundary behaviour using a scaffolded approach. First reflection of travelling waves in a rope with fixed/loose boundary is described, followed by reflection of light. Refraction at water and light boundaries is then adequately treated leading up to Snell’s Law. Finally the concepts of reflection and refraction are linked together with the introduction of the concept of total internal reflection.
Resource is suitable for A-level and I.B. Physics owing to depth but still suitable for GCSE/MYP level because all concepts are introduced at fundamental level. Teacher may omit/modify higher level content for GCSE/MYP use.
