A5 Revision Cards - GCSE Literature texts
To try and engage year 11 and 10 with revision I have created playing cards for each of the texts we are studying. These may not be the texts you are studying but they may be a useful framework (you would only need to replace the names / themes on each card).
The bundle includes the following:
Spades - The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Spades - A Christmas Carol
Clubs (plus 2 jokers) - Poetry (AQA Anthology Power and Conflict)
Diamonds - An Inspector Calls
Hearts - Romeo and Juliet
There are 2 sets of Spades as we study two different texts based on ability at out school. If you study other texts / poetry you can edit them easily in PowerPoint.
On the play/novel cards you have the following boxes:
- Character - What do we need to know (bullet points)
- Key quotes (4 boxes)
- AO3 - Links to context
- Writer's intentions
On the poetry ones you have the following boxes:
- What is the poem about?
- Key theme and quote linked to the theme (4 boxes)
- What do we know about context?
- What other poems does this link to?
I print mine A5 and this is the way they are set out in the document or they will not match up on the printer correctly back and front. To do this you need to print them duplex (flip on the short side) and on the layout you need to choose print 2 to a page, plural ('multi-up plural' on some computers) - this way you will get 2 A5 cards per page on the front and the back.
I have tried to match the characters with cards that will help the students remember them, for example, King of Hearts is Romeo and 2 of Diamonds is Eva Smith (to show poverty).
