There are many fables and children's stories about Sub-Saharan Africa. Teachers however find it difficult to find fables or children's stories that depict the North African way of life and its Arab dominated culture. Seluwa of the Fulani people, tells us about the sense of community and camaraderie that exists amongst desert dwellers and travellers. Seluwa's tale has been described as both contemporary and enchanting. It is a tale, which lends us an insight into the alluring beauty of the desert and its Oasis regions.
