SEND The Suitcase Planning

3 week planning for the book The Suitcase, the first week being an exploration of special items and special items to us, the second week bring about emotions of characters and the third week being about describing our school. Contains planning notes, ppt lesson slides, resources for each lesson, suggestions for a tuff tray and additional curriculum lesson ideas. These English lessons were used to support learners in the topic of refugees, natural disasters and migration, in an easy to understand format.

These lesson plans were designed using comic sans, blue backgrounds and widgits to be dyslexia friendly. They were aimed at SEND children in KS2 who were working at KS1 level and below. They use small sections of handwriting, verbal discussion and cut and stick activities to allow all children access to learning. Simple lesson activities and minimal information on slides.

Lesson plans follow the format:
Monday - hands on hook lesson - evidence of learning is LO, description of lesson in widgit format and photographs of children
Tuesday and Wednesday - vocabulary exploring lessons - evidence is worksheets
Thursday - handwritten gap fill sentences - evidence is worksheet
Friday - editing of prewritten sentences - evidence is worksheet
