SOLO taxonomy MRS GREN living characteristics lesson pack Science

Children identify where they are on the SOLO scale at the beginning of the lesson: draw symbol next to L.O in book. This is the PPT and the accompanied worksheet where children need to write a description and an example for an animal and a plant. They can either make notes as you go through the PPT or after. At end of the lesson, ask children to identify where they are on the SOLO scale now. Should show good progress. Table in an Excel document is also included for the next lesson where children can travel in a carousel style around the classroom making judgements about whether something is alive, dead or has never been alive - this derives some great discussions.
MRSGREN lesson can be taught in Year 5, 6 or even 7.
