There are 6 questions and 6 answers. In most cases at least 1 thing is wrong with each answer. Students must identify the errors and then correct them (then hopefully not replicate them!)

They are all classic errors or examples of a poor quality of written communication.

An ideal activity for Year 11 as a revision task.

  1. Q asked for total interest (not new bank balance) AND needs to be rounded to the nearest penny.
  2. x should be on the bottom of the fraction.
  3. Should be subtracting for Pythag, misuse of equals sign (more than one step attempted at once), area of triangle not halved.
  4. Dividing by 10 yields 8% not 10%. Answer should be £31.
  5. The method is great but the question hasn’t been answered! 1 mark would be lost.
  6. This is correct but really hard to understand without any English, units or annotations.
