**Programme: Spotting Red Flags

Programme Overview
This programme teaches children how to recognise unsafe behaviour, trust their feelings, and know when to ask for help.
It is age-appropriate, non-graphic, and designed for use in schools.

Key message:
Good relationships feel safe and respectful.
Bad behaviour is never your fault.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this programme, students will be able to:

  • Explain what a red flag is
  • Identify unsafe behaviour
  • Know what to do if something feels wrong
  • Name trusted adults they can talk to

Audience: Pupils aged 8–15
Focus: Safeguarding prevention
Delivery: Curriculum-based
Risk management: Non-graphic, disclosure-safe
Outcome: Improved awareness and help-seeking

OVERALL AIMS
By the end of this programme, pupils will:
• Understand what unsafe behaviour looks like
• Recognise red flags in relationships and interactions
• Trust their feelings and instincts
• Know how and when to seek help
• Understand that bad behaviour is never their fault

5-Lesson Scheme of Work

Age Range: 10 to13 (core)
Adaptations included for: 8 to 10 and 13 to 15
Lesson Length: 45 to 60 minutes each
