Based on the popular level assessed tasks published by Badger. Pupils work towards their target grade using the assessment criteria. This task focuses on the terminal velocity of a ball bearing and the forces acting at different times.
Start by showing the class a ball bearing falling through a cylinder/tube or washing up liquid/oil. Pupils then explain why the ball bearing reached terminal velocity using force diagrams (they can use calculations to determine the weight of the ball). They are also asked to draw a velocity-time graph. Assessment criteria included for peer/self assessment.
