Aim of the week: Learners read and explore 'The Highway Man' and write the following 3 verses for part 1 of the poem.
Monday - Learners explore a variety of poems including: Jack's Tale, Maggie and the Dinosaur, Me and My Brother, The Apple-Raid and The Charge of the Light Brigade.
Tuesday - Learners explore the 'ough' spelling string and fill the blanks in 'The Wind' poem and then attempt to change the mood of the poem.
Wednesday - Learners deconstruct The Highway Man onto a story mountain style template.
Thursday - Learners explore the use of sound pattern, archaic language and imagery used in The Highway Man and improve lines (made up) with the use of creative imagery.
Friday - Teacher to model write against the success criteria from Monday's lesson the following verse of the poem before learners have a go themselves.
I have also included a comprehension that can be used in any of the lessons - I chose to use it on Monday.
