How to Use:
This pack is suitable for students in Reception and all the way through to later primary year groups.

If they know closed syllables, then they can learn the first verse. As they learn more syllable types, they can add more verses. And if they already know all the syllable types, this song is a great way to consolidate that knowledge in a fun and engaging way.

Syllable Types:
Learning about syllable types is an important way for readers to understand the role that vowels play in words. It also prepares them to be able to read unfamiliar one and two syllable words, since knowing the syllable type means that the reader can pronounce the word properly.
For readers with dyslexia this explicit instruction is invaluable as it unlocks how to read and spell a word. For example, when the closed syllable is known, the reader will understand that the vowel has to be short, and so can read and spell the word with confidence.
