VCAL Literacy - Reading for Knowledge Task

This is a writing task for VCAL Literacy - reading for knowledge.

Task uses timelines as the theme for reading for knowledge. Students explore the purpose of timelines and look at two different books with timelines in them to explore the different ways authors can depict timelines and events.

Two book titles and authors are included in the planning. If your school or public library doesn’t carry these, you can alternate these for any books with timelines that suits your class’ interests.

Included is:

• Word document for dissemination to students (suitable for distance learning)
• Word document for teachers with the task, curriculum links and all graphic organisers / templates for printing
• PowerPoint for introducing and teaching the task

I hope you and your students find this unit engaging, practice skills for analysing information to ascertain important information relevant to their interests. Please feel free to change the books to a topic relevant to you and your students’ interests.
