UV Light Hands-on Extension Activity

Looking for an activity to extend student learning of light waves? This lesson plan has students design an investigation to determine how to prevent ultraviolet light from reaching UV beads. Students will use the Science and Engineering Practices along with the CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) format for their investigation. It is the perfect resource for the “Extend” portion of 5E lessons, for GATE students, or as an at-home activity. Both color and print-friendly student pages are included. This activity requires the use of color-changing ultraviolet beads which are readily available in many stores.
