This 90-minute GCSE Astronomy lesson introduces learners to deep-sky objects, including nebulae, open and globular clusters, supernova remnants and selected galaxies. Using striking images, comparison activities, star charts and planetarium software, the lesson helps pupils classify objects, connect them to stellar birth and death, and understand what they can realistically observe from the UK. The sequence combines direct teaching, visual discussion, guided classification, practical locating work and a short plenary, with built-in differentiation and accessible alternatives for learners who cannot observe outdoors.
