This 90-minute lesson develops learners’ GCSE Astronomy exam technique by explicitly teaching how to interpret command words, match the depth of an answer to the mark allocation, and use reliable structures for descriptive, explanatory, comparative, calculation and evaluation questions. Teachers should model the 30-second question-decoding routine, use worked examples to expose common errors, and give learners repeated opportunities to rewrite, peer-assess and self-check responses. By the end, learners should be able to plan more purposeful answers, communicate scientific ideas clearly and use examination time more effectively.
