This 90-minute lesson develops learners’ confidence in applying and rearranging algebraic formulae through authentic GCSE Astronomy contexts. Teaching progresses from retrieval of speed–distance–time relationships to the inverse-square law, magnitude comparisons, and distance modulus calculations. Worked examples, formula prompts, tiered practice, paired checking, and regular reasonableness checks support learners in moving from straightforward substitution to multi-step problem solving.
