I use this resource in my class to remind my Year 3/4 children of my expectations during any writing task. They are great for quickly showing differentiation or just for reminding the children of what is expected of them . I love using the ‘check your writing’ bookmark as it gives the children a check list of what to look for! This resource includes: 3 differentiated writing book marks (ranging from Year 4 expected, Year 3/4 developing and E.O.Y 2 expectations for my lowers). 1 bookmark to remind how to use speech in writing. 1 bookmark to remind children of what to check in their writing. Hi, This resourse focus on allowing the children to engage in key critical thinking skills and practice their skills in place value, adding and subtracting. The 20 questions vary from asking the children to Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction and reading and writing numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals and number names. I’ve included a word version so you can edit the questions to suit the needs of your class. Here’s some suggested ways to use this resource. Cut them up and laminate them- place them on the tables and ask your pupils to collaboratively solve them. Stick them in the children’s books and get them to answer them. After the children have solved a few ask them to place them in order of difficulty - ask them why and what they found most difficult. This game is great for promoting vocabulary/terminology in my mixed R/1 class. This download includes 10 PDF documents with 4 pages (40 game boards in all). Each game board covers a range of sounds from phase 2-5 and set 2/3 RWI. This game is a great revision activity that is fun and allows children to show what they know as well as collaborate/play with other children. This can be used as a whole class activity / starter or with 1:1/group interventions. Great revision activity for the upcoming phonics screening test. No real preparation needed. Simply print, cut and use. To play who’s who the children need to pick a word and then ask other players questions to eliminate possible words (aliens). Alternatively you can laminate boards and just ask children to choose a alien (word) and ask children to sit in a group to play. This resource includes 5 game boards and the sounds au, oi, ear /ur pronunciation of ear, ar and ea. There is a mixture of nonsense and real words on each board. For best results print A3! I have asked children to select their playing piece from a basket of cars and used a large foam die! just to add a twist and gimmick to it. I have used these with a class of 20 plus but found they are great for use in interventions and 1:2:1 teaching. Each board takes roughly 20 mins to play with 3 players. In the past I’ve held small competitions to see who won overall. Hope your class love this game! Thanks

This game was loved by my mixed R/1 class so much that I created a 4 player A3 sheet version. It promotes reading and sharing. Included is a 2 player and 4 player version. This download includes 5 PDF documents with 4 game boards (20 boards in all). Each split digraph a_e , e_e, i_e , o_e and u_e have been split into three levels of difficulty and the middle ability has a copy with the sounds highlighted to further differentiate. Boards contain a mixture of nonsense/alien words and real. The pupils simply roll die and then move car and say word they land on. They don’t move if they can’ read the nonsense word. The other pupils really enjoy being the ref and check their friends learning. To make it a longer game use a die just up to 3. This can be used as a whole class activity / starter or with 1:1/group interventions. You could simply use this to time your children on how fast they can read the words. To extend game just overlap the game boards and make the track longer. Children could play best out of three or you could use the game boards to set out a mini competition/tournament around the classroom. It’s also great when doing transport as a theme and to check and stretch learning. I’ve included the word documents so that you can edit and create your own words. This resource can be used to measure angles and identify them. You can use it in many ways. Cut them out and stick them in the children’s books. Cut them out and use them on tables and as a carousel activity. I’ve used them on tables and placed post it notes and cups with each angle. Hi, This resource focuses on multiplication, area and perimeter and allows the children to use reasoning and problem solving skills to solve two investigations. The investigations focus on the 9 and 8 times tables. Investigation 1: Santa wants a new floor design for his grotto 10m x 10m and a new floor design for his ballroom 20 m x 20 m (for higher attainers) Investigation 2: Santa would like to know how many presents fit in each room. Children have to work together to solve. There is a short task to solve the presents area and perimeter which involves the 9 and 8 x tables. Feel free to edit this resource to suit the needs of your class. For example, you could change the multiplication, area size to 5 x 5 or change the grotto to the sleigh. Also you could change the actual measurement to cm and get children to draw in books. I am going to get children to cut areas from spare grids and place on until they have a final version. I’m also going to set my highers off with the challenge of only using calculations to solve first. Hope your class enjoy it and have an awesome Christmas!
