This interactive whiteboard game is fab! Boys and girls love it. I use this to test children's reading skills and use it to model sounding out words. The children must come up and drag car to the correct word. The children can also play in pairs and challenge one another. I have made 3 versions and one maths version using Numicon. Hi, This resource is great for whole lessons. You can model writing a sustained piece and structure how to add depth and creativity to a paragraph/short/long piece of writing. I’ve played around with how I use this presentation, here are some suggestions, and if you find better ways then please share your good practice. 1. Print slides and allow children to use as prompts for writing about a stimulus. 2. Show children stimulus and then do some talk for writing, than ask them to write sentence/paragraph 1 and then share with class. Repeat process for all 6 sentence types. 3. Print the slides and cut the strips up. Allow children to mix and match to create different structures. I really hope that this resource is useful. Many thanks

This resource includes one template and one complete Year 2 common misconception words board game for up to 4 players. It’s A3. I’ve been struggling to engage my Year 3 class into learning their tricky words so came up with this. When a child’s playing piece lands on the circle they must write word in a sentence. Interactive smartboard which contains quiz style slides and drag and drop activities. Works well alongside plickers. I cut the questions up and either use them to extend learners who have completed tasks or for plenaries/starters. The children love to be active during Phonic sessions. This activity can be adapted to any occasion/activity. For example you could use it as a dart/arrow board or roll an object and see what word it lands on. I have used it in trays or baskets and with many items that the children roll , e.g pebbles, die, small cubes, spinning tops to name a few. This resource includes 5 pdfs which contain 4 boards each (20 in total). They cover the split digraphs a_e e_e i_e o_e u_e and include real and nonsense words ( pseudonyms ). This game was loved by my mixed R/1 class so much that I created a 4 player A3 sheet version. It promotes reading and sharing. This download includes 5 PDF documents with 4 game boards (20 boards in all). Each split digraph a_e , e_e, i_e , o_e and u_e have been split into three levels of difficulty and the middle ability has a copy with the sounds highlighted to further differentiate. Boards contain a mixture of nonsense/alien words and real. The pupils simply roll die and then move car and say word they land on. They don’t move if they can’t. The other pupils really enjoy being the ref and check their friends learning. To make it a longer game use a die just up to 3. This can be used as a whole class activity / starter or with 1:1/group interventions. You could simply use this to time your children on how fast they can read the words. To extend game just overlap the game boards and make the track longer. Children could play best out of three or you could use the game boards to set out a mini competition/tournament around the classroom. It’s also great when doing transport as a theme and to check and stretch learning. I’ve included the word documents so that you can edit and create your own words. Great revision activity for the upcoming phonics screening. No real preparation needed. Simply print and use. You only need toy cars or a playing piece and a die. I use this resource in my class to remind my Year 3/4 children of my expectations during any writing task. They are great for quickly showing differentiation or just for reminding the children of what is expected of them . I love using the ‘check your writing’ bookmark as it gives the children a check list of what to look for! This resource includes: 3 differentiated writing book marks (ranging from Year 4 expected, Year 3/4 developing and E.O.Y 2 expectations for my lowers). 1 bookmark to remind how to use speech in writing. 1 bookmark to remind children of what to check in their writing.
