These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

Persuasive Techniques - Grid For Teaching

A slide that can be used for lots of purposes: for all lessons on spoting persuasive techniques, for display, for literacy across the curriculum - to pass on to ther departments as a tutorial or simply for the pupils books.

Shakespeare & Sonnets Scheme for Control Ass. Y10

(8)
This is a full scheme of work that consists of all lessons power points and resources - similar to the one that I've added for Richard III (if you want something less conventional). It&'s for the controlled assessment that compares a Shakespeare play with his Sonnets. The focus of the question is strong feelings of love.

DNA - Dennis Kelly - Literature Lessons KS3 1-18

(11)
These are the first 18 lessons of a scheme of work that I created last year for DNA by Dennis Kelly. It is aimed at a year 9 class, as the idea is that I am starting to prepare them for GCSE Literature. Therefore, the scheme is a mix of analysis and playing with the text too. I've used a variety of ideas to teach it. All lessons are complete lessons in themselves but you may wish to adapt / cut apart and mix them up, especially if you want to use for GCSE. The remaining lessons will also be uploaded under the same heading

OfSted Outstanding Literacy All lessons Starter: With a new shift in focus for the 2012 framework that means that teaching and learning can only be judged outstanding if literacy and numeracy are encorporated across the curriculum, I am making a daily starter / settler activity that can be incorporated into all lessons. These mini activities are examples of a literacy activity & there is a tutorial before each. These are going to be made daily, so I'll upload them é I hope they will help other schools to boost literacy teaching. This one is about extending vocabulary.

Woman In Black Lesson 2 Foreshadowing Chapter 1

I have uploaded 20 lessons in this series in total - each with it's own resources where relevant. Each lesson Powerpoint can be taught as a standalone lesson, or used within the series. These are brand new lessons and they structure the reading of the novel, whilst analysing it. Designed for AQA Literacy specification. This lesson covers what foreshadowing is and how it operates in chapter 1

This is a lesson powerpoint that is ready to teach - albeit, you may wish to adapt it for your own context. It is aimed as an intro to History in Year 7. I've uploaded a series of lessons that can be taught together for the final outcome or, quite easily as standalone lessons. This particular lesson covers an intro to History.

Luckily, we will never be in the position again where I have to teach 2 specifications at the same time to the same class. However, this is the scheme that I created last year when this was the approach adopted by the Head. Although these lessons are aimed at both specs, the full scheme is more IGCSE skills and texts than the AQA. My AQA scheme will be uploaded as a separate entity. 2 of these texts, I've uploaded before but the whole scheme makes sense when uploaded together. The first lessons are uploaded separately.
