A weeks literacy planning for the third week of the Summer term for a mixed year 1 and 2 class. The lessons focus on looking at different books by the same author, in this case the Katie Morag books. The week focuses on looking at the character of Katie Morag, putting together a character profile, creating a new character to be a friend for Katie based on what we know about Katie already and planning and writing a story involving their new character.

This is a loop game that can be used for the Oral Mental Starter of a maths lesson, focusing on mental addition and subtraction. This was made with year 2 in mind and if the cards are kept in the same order as they print then the numbers will work and not go too high or below zero.

Learning Objectives: To make simple notes to writing and plan for writing. A lesson focusing on writing a plan in note form for use in the next lesson so that children can write a recount of Florence Nightingale’s life.

Learning objective: To use units of time (seconds, minutes, hours, days) and know the relationship between them. Children estimate how many times they can do an activity in one minute, carry out the activity and record the accurate number. I found that this encouraged children to really consider how long a minute is rather than make random guesses as they did for the first estimate, after that they came up with more more sensible, rational and accurate estimates. Learning Objective: To understand that a sound from a sound maker can be changed by changing how the sound is made, such as tapping softly, tapping harder, blowing gently, blowing harder etc. Relates to: National Curriculum Sc4 3c

The week focuses on looking at the author Mairi Hedderwick, thinking of questions the children may like to ask her, looking at which books are favourites and why and at the end of the week the children choose a book and evaluate it.

The first introductory lesson to Coasts for Year 5/6 geography. The lesson plan details everything that you will need for the lesson. All recording sheets and activities are included. The interactive whiteboard presentation has a number of pictures as well as teaching points and questions to help with teaching about coasts and sea defence systems. I also have two other notebook files that are coastal pictures but they’re fairly large files and slow to upload but if anyone wants them, please contact me.

A simple, brief audit form that can be used with staff across the school to audit their confidence with different areas of SEND as well as identify training needs and any specific support needed with individual children.

Learning Objective: To add 2 amounts using money and find exact coins.
