It is highly recommended to Mandarin teachers as well as parents who are homeschooling their children or would like some extra fun work for their Mandarin-loving kids. 26 creative and original worksheets are included to support learners with different backgrounds and learning needs. For Mandarin learners, mastering numbers helps to lay a solid foundation to the learning of many other concepts where numbers play an essential and inseparable part, such as talking about time and shopping. This practical activity pack provides a wide range of entertaining activities and drilling exercises focusing on developing students’ different language skills. It enables teachers/parents to help students learn, review and consolidate their knowledge of numbers in Chinese in a charming and fun way! Highlights • Engaging Worksheets 26 thoughtfully designed worksheets, including a variety of engaging activities, some of which contain differentiated versions for different levels of students. Collaborative and interactive activities promoting pair work or group work are also included in this pack. Take the Matching Cards activity for example, students can play in pairs or groups. The Cut&Match worksheets (two versions: ice cream cones & pencils) can be printed out on A3 papers to create larger cards. Before cutting out the cards, students can play Fly Swat in pairs using the sheet. Don’t forget to laminate the sheets to increase durability. Note: for all included worksheets, students can write in either Chinese characters or Pinyin according to their levels. • Handy Answer Keys Carefully designed Answer Keys to help simplify the process of checking answers and provide scaffolding where needed. Peer Assessment - When checking answers, teachers could ask students to swap their worksheets with one another and peer mark each other’s work. Scaffolding (Exemplars) - To best scaffold some students, teachers/parents can use a reasonable part of the Answer Key sheet as exemplars to show students explicitly what they need to do. • Fostering Handwriting Skills Creative ways of exploring the numbers in Chinese characters and fostering students’ handwriting skills through using the uniquely designed Three-Step Writing Initiative. • Various Uses This activity pack can be applied in varied ways that best suit educators’ needs. Mix&Match Collection (Mandarin Chinese)

(0)
This collection of Mix&Match worksheets is highly recommended for teaching/learning Mandarin Chinese. These well-deisnged worksheets can be utilized in a range of ways, at different stages of teaching and learning, to enhance students’ language acquisition. Both Pinyin and Chinese characters are provided to support students. Suggested ways of using this collection: Presentation Use them to present new vocabulary. Students are given the relevant worksheet to match the new words up as the teacher introduce each word. Or to have students complete the worksheets independently after introducing new vocabulary to help students develop and improve their ability to identify and recognize new Chinese characters. Assessment Use them to evaluate students’ learning process in class as a formative or diagnostic assessment tool in order to make modifications as necessary. Extension Work Print them out on an A4 paper (or even an A3 paper) and have them laminated. Separate the topics students have learned from the others. Store them separately. Advanced students can be given this Mix&Match activity in class as extension work. Set a timer. Students have to draw a card from the learned collection, match the words up as fast as they can and then draw another one, have it completed, and continue. See how many cards they get to complete within the set time frame. Students only get a point when they match all the words up correctly on a card. Keep a record and students can see their progress visually. Kids love making new records! It works best for pairs. Have students trained and they will get better at this each time! Homework These worksheets can also be given to students as homework to help them revise and consolidate learned content. Set Work Provide them to casual/relief teachers as set work when you need cover. This will free you up and save you a great deal of valuable time. As answer keys are provided in this collection, the casual/relief teacher doesn’t need to know any Mandarin to mark students’ work or to guide students to mark each other’s work. Various topics are covered in this collection. 25 original worksheets (covering 20 different topics) are in included. List of Topics Greetings (2 Sets) Family Members Days of the Week Months Numbers (2 Sets) Colour (2 Sets) Body Parts (2 Sets) Clothes (2 Sets) Sports Ball Games Weather Animal Fruit Food Countries Transportation Pronouns Occupation House Christmas
