I use these Tracking and Targeting sheets with my 6th Form Students. They transfer the comments that I have made on their work onto their tracking sheets. The idea is that the students and I can easily track what they need to do in order to move in. This can be kept at the front of their files, or in may case I keep these in an folder attached to the wall - easy for me and my students to access. I also ask them to look at their tracking sheet before they start the next essay/LAQ and write the target at the top of the work - to focus them!

To encourage additional reading beyond the AS/A Level Text books, we send out a list of recommended further reading to students and parents, along with display in the library and on the school website. Around the department, I also have a display of recommended reading - see posters. During National Reading week, this becomes a homework to have sourced a further reading book! This lesson was designed to be used at the beginning of the school year, as the class was getting to know each other. The unit of work is included, along with the whole lesson and all activities.

This powerpoint is designed for parents. We put on an evening in the Autumn term - How to help my son/daughter....My session is on revise. I go through revision techniques and the importance of being organised. This is a forerunner to the December Yr 12 mocks,

1st lesson with my Year 12s - Tutor time. I used the powerpoint to get them to think about the GCSE/GCE gap! The powerpoint was to help get to know their fellow tutees. I have further Year 12 and 13 Tutor material uploaded.

This PowerPoint is used as the 8+th lesson for GCSE WJEC Sociology (Paper 2: Crime and Deviance Section). The PowerPoints covers Sociological Theory – Marxism, their core concepts and theories and an evaluation (seperate ppt for Working class and corporate crime). There are also a range of activities included. Reference to the text book is the WJEC Illuminate Textbook.

PSHE/Citizenship is taught by a range of staff in my school. I use the skills audit to establish what skills the teaching staff have and where they might be able to assist others, areas of training required - which helps me plan our area meeting. It's helpful for planning and means that we can make the most of the diverse range of skills.

The Concepts PowerPoint works through the whole lesson - explaining and prompting where activities follow. It works through looking at the methodology recapping on Practical, Ethical and Theoretical (PET - see choice of Methods), along with other concepts. The Concepts PPT, I used by printing off and getting students to find their matching pair. This was used to conclude the Methods unit of work.

This uses the 12/16 mark essay (present on both the AS and A level papers). There is a Generic Markscheme and then a feedback sheet for students. This can be used a a peer marking, self marking or teacher assessed activity (materials support all of these versions!)

Year 10 lessons on Crime and Legal Systems. There are a number of lessons and activities included here for various ability levels with lesson plans and a scheme of work.

This powerpoint covers essay planning and developing lines of arguments. I used the specimen, with markscheme and examiners report to model the first essay together as a group. Then printed out the remaining essay titles onto A3. As per the instructions on the powerpoint these titles travelled around the room.

This provides a 1 hour starter/taster to sociology develops the ideas of society, role, stereotyping - as well as developing themes such as social control, belief, family, education etc. The session is taught through the PowerPoint and based around discussion of the roles needed for society, whats needed to create a functional society, who would best provide the roles and inevitably stereotyping. Students typically discuss the need for power and control and who has it. This leads to some nice early ideas developing Marxism and Functionalism. Accompanying resources are attached. This is based on the lifeboat game. I have a 2 taster sessions (both uploaded).

This is a handbook for Year 12 Students starting the Sociology A'Level course. It is an outline of all they need to know, including expectations, references and ideal for setting the tone early on.

Designed for Yr 13 as part of Post 18 pathways. An introduction to Apprenticeships and leads to plenty of discussion. I have other Yr 12 and 13 tutor material uploaded.
