This bundle contains both a full scheme of work for teaching ‘The Crucible’ by Arthur Miller and a revision guide aimed at students but also useful for first time teachers of the text.

Each lesson is full of active learning strategies to develop students’ understanding of the context in which Miller wrote the play, the characterisation of key players and the central concern of reputation vs conscience. The suite of resources help students to build confidence and independence - essential skills for the critical essay exam.

Each lesson pack includes:

Teaching Ideas - an adaptable lesson plan (covering work which will realistically take a number of teaching periods)
PowerPoint slides - so that you can adapt the content to the needs of your students
Handouts
Pop Quizzes - print outs and the option of a code to use on Showbie Assessments or Socrative for a self-marking option
This pack also contains a set of ‘Top Trumps’ cards which create a revision resource and help students to become familiar with the characters. These can be used for lesson starters such as ‘Heads Up’, ‘Guess Who?’ and ‘Imposter’ in addition to the activities included in the lesson packs.

Furthermore, this pack includes a homework grid. This is a points-based class competition. Each time homework is assigned, students choose one task with a points value of 1-10 and accumulate points over the course of the unit. Homework tasks are designed to consolidate in-class learning, foster independence and allow creativity (and a bit of competitiveness!).
