Fifteen lessons (incl. one assessment, also provided) based on introducing pupils to The Gothic genre which are suitable for KS3 or KS4 students. However, the lessons are also tailored towards teaching the necessary skills to answer Q1-4 of the AQA English Language Paper One (8700). These activities are easily tweaked to match other exam board specs.
The lessons are well-prepared, and contain video stimulus, SPAG work, basic grammar, and structuring of responses. The genre conventions covered included the supernatural, science vs religion, femmes fatales, pathetic fallacy etc.
