A series of 6 lessons aimed at y9 students to develop their reading comprehension skills and to begin to develop their skills of analysis so that they’re ready for Y10 English language.
They could be suitable for lower attaining Y10 students.
They cover a breadth of genres and extracts.
All lessons contain a preteach vocab starter, an introduction to the genre, a link to a central concept of secrets and lies, an extract and then comprehension questions ranging in difficulty. They are designed as 30 minute lessons, with the remainder of lessons being given over to reading for pleasure, but they could easily be stretched to 1 hour lessons through discussion or an extension task.
