This is a planning sheet for evaluation questions.
It was designed for the AQA GCSE Religious Studies syllabus. However, it could be used/adapted for any evaluation style question which requires students to present two sides of an argument and come to a justified conclusion.
It is designed to be double-side printed, with the first page containing space for them to write the statement e.g. ‘Capital punishment can never be justified’ Evaluate this statement. It also consists of three boxes on each side of the argument for them to plan their answer. On the reverse side, there is a scaffolded conclusion guide, as well as two different structures they may wish to follow when writing their essay.
This has been tried and tested with Year 9, 10 and 11 students who all engaged with the resources and found that it aided their planning.
