This is part 2 of a complete unit of work preparing students for their AQA Paper 2 English Language exam, now updated for 2026. In this resource there are 4 PowerPoints guiding teachers (and students) through all the activities; additional worksheets and a booklet containing all the extracts that are referred to. Students have a recap of the question 1 skills, exploring an extract from Julie Myerson’s Diary and then an extract from an article about Newgate Gaol. They are then introduced to the requirements for question 2 and a format for answering questions using SQuIC. The two texts used are about prisons. They are then encouraged to develop their skills further using two texts about shopping: London Labour and the Labour Poor and Inside the Dark Supermarkets. Students are then introduced to the requirements for question 3 focusing on two different texts: The Girl of the Period and A Visit to Newgate Prison. An overview of the whole Unit of Work is included in the Week 1 resources as a free resource. Other sections can be purchased separately or are available as a bundle.
