Word Family Mini-Book:
Have students rainbow write their –en words and draw a picture of each word

en Family Sentence Practice
This is designed to be homework. Send this home with your students to practice writing sentences using their –en family words. There is also a parent signature on this page saying they have practiced –en words with their child for at least 10 minutes that night.

-en Family Poem
Students can practice reading the words they have just learned with this poem. Pages have been provided for student to read and illustrate the poem as well.

Letter Tiles and Spelling Mats
Students practice spelling the word- using letter tiles on the word picture mats. You can also laminate them/or put them in a sleeve and have students write the words using dry erase makers.
-en Word Cards
These are designed to be printed directly onto cardstock using double sided printing. I print one set per student, and one for myself for my word wall and other word activities.

-en Family Poem/ Read and Draw
I double side print the poem and the read and draw activity. I pass out the poem and give the students a few minutes to read over en, then I call on students to read each stanza. After students turn their papers over and re-read the stanza on their paper and draw en. I sit my students in groups, I try to give each student in the group a different part of the poem, so as a group they illustrate the entire thing.

-en Family Quiz
I give students a quiz on their word family at the end of each week. The first page I dictate 2 sentences to them. The second page they have to come up with their own sentences using the –en word pictured.
