Part 2: Manufacturing
Lesson 3: Metal and Plastic Components

A theory lesson dedicated to Metal and Plastic Components for KS4 Construction students. Based around the EDUQAS specification.

This resource includes a PDF slideshow and accompanying PDF worksheets that have been differentiated into High, Medium and Low attainment levels with a 15 mark mini test and is designed to be delivered in a 1 hour lesson.

It is suitable for teacher delivery (specialist or non specialist) or could be sent out for use in distance learning.

The lesson introduces metals that are used in the construction industry and compares the use of PVC and Copper for water systems. The subject material can be delivered by the teacher or is ideal for a marketplace style activity. Just print out the slides for the materials and place around the room. Then get the students to collect, remember and record the information onto the worksheet. At the end of the lesson, there is a short test to consolidate the learning and allow the teacher to record instant understanding of the lesson content. The answers are included on the slideshow which also has a starter and plenary task.
