This comes from the BLEW (Bilingual Learners Early years Work box) document. I typed out useful extracts to keep somewhere prominent for teachers and observers to refer to. I thought it was an excellent basis for judging where bilingual learners are in their acquisition of English.

Really useful guide that will be helpful for all EAL provision in primary, not just Early Years (we have few children but they mostly arrive with no English)

Thanks Eve. I have very few EAL children really, so I sometimes feel a little bewildered. This guidw will, I hink, help me clarify where we are with these children. Thank you.
