Use this Free CK Digraph Matching Activity to give your readers practice in recognising the ‘ck’ digraph.
Did you know that CK comes at the end of a one syllable word, right after one short vowel? Help your young readers learn to read words that use this digraph with this simple, fun, quick game.
How to Use:
The words included follow a CV-CK pattern such as ‘lick’ and ‘pack’. This game is ideal for readers in Reception and can be used as an independent activity, as well as for small group instruction.
Print the version you want twice and then use the word cards to play a matching game:
Place all the cards out, face down, and then turn two over at a time. Read the words. If they are a match, keep the words. If not, turn them back over and try again.
This activity includes:
- Activity Instructions
- Printable word cards using the digraph ‘ck’
- Three different versions to print:
- Greyscale,
- Colour,
- Greyscale with coding markings to aid with sounding out.
Preparation:
This activity needs printing TWICE, laminating if required and then cutting up into individual word cards.
Its best to print on card so that the ink doesn’t show through to the other side.
