FREE Independence Pathways Starter Lessons

Try the first two lessons of Independence Pathways free. Independence Pathways is a five-lesson life skills unit for secondary pupils (S1-S4 / Years 7-11), suitable for PSHE, Health and Wellbeing, life skills rooms, nurture groups and ASN/SEND bases. These are complete, ready-to-teach lessons.

Lesson 1: Plan My Day
Pupils build a routine in order, learn ways to tell the time, sort tasks into must, should and could, build a visual plan and make a Plan B for when things change. Includes a starter, a case study with a fictional pupil, an activity and an exit ticket.

Lesson 2: Money Matters
Pupils tell needs from wants, complete a simple weekly budget, compare value, learn how to pay safely and spot the signs of a scam. All amounts and characters are fictional.

Designed with care
Pupils choose what to write and what to share, and can pass on any task. Be sensitive to pupils whose families have limited money and never ask pupils to share personal finances. Wren the bird mascot gives a friendly, consistent look.
