The focus of this pack is to provide the learners with authentic and relevant purposes for using language.
Based on Autumn/Halloween, these resources/activities and suggested learning experiences have been planned to help the learners develop language through writing forms, grammar and structure. This topic provides opportunities to explore various writing forms within a supportive climate.
There are 8 PowerPoint presentations that deal with the topic and provide an introduction to the topic , developing writing activities as well as assessment. I have included some topic based maths , topic based handwriting as well as a simple art task. This cross curricular approach ensures that children enjoy and engage in interdisciplinary learning.
The presentations include:
Seasons : A simple introduction to place the learning into context
Writing an Autumn Report ( Non -chronological report)
A Week in Autumn ( Poetry with a Grammar Focus)
Halloween - A Revolting Recipe - writing instructions
Halloween Literacy Bundle - variety of language tasks
Autumn Handwriting ( to be used with interactive board for modelling handwriting)
Autumn Maths ( number, handling data and some area activities) with answer slides
Scarecrow Art
There are also some online links provided within the presentations to engage the learners.
This pack will provide a substantial amount of resources for this topic - Autumn/ Halloween as literacy, science, maths and art are woven into the learning experiences.
I have added in several jpg files so teachers can peruse the range of resources that are offered within the pack. The complete pack is contained within the zipped file. However, I have now added on a new updated Halloween Descriptive Writing (as an individual PowerPoint presentation )as I have now included some differentiated slides for the writing tasks to help support learners.
