A simple PowerPoint presentation with a graphic organizer that asks students to fill in two boxes with details of five key pieces of technology in World War I: Machine Guns, Tanks, Aircraft, Ammunition and Submarines. Students must detail the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies for each side and make an overall judgment as to which side had a technological advantage if any. Teacher and students can then debrief the chart and bridge to a more general discussion of why Germany and the Central Powers lost World War I. Meant to be used with the following resource:

Andy Dailey and Sarah Webb, “Causes and Effects of 20th Century Wars”, pp. 35-55.
