This SoW takes students from the end of WW2 through to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. It is aimed at students in year 9, but could be adapted for younger students if necessary.

You will need the AQA Understanding the Modern World GCSE textbooks for some of the activities and information sources used within.

The lessons cover the following topics.
L1 - Ideological Differences
L2 - Background to the Cold War
L3 - Conferences
L4 - Iron Curtain and Marshall Plan
L5 - Berlin Crises
L6 - NATO and Warsaw Pact
L7 - The Berlin Wall
L8-9 - The Cuban Missile Crisis
L10 - Opposition within the USSR
L11 - Chernobyl
L12-13 - End of the Cold War and Fall of Berlin Wall
