This resource includes a fully comprehensive powerpoint and worksheets/resources.Lessons are fully editable to allow adapations for individual needs however the lessons can be picked up and taught from.

Children will explore a number of reflection questions through carefully designed small steps. Exploring some of the core themes from the story such as how Bird tries to comfort Squirrel.

After a number of whole class discussion points children will think about strategies Squirrel could use another time he is frustrated/scared. This will lead into an independent task.

A chilli challenge is provided to extend children’s learning. All children can be provided with the chilli challenge - the differentiation is based on how children access the task.

Stem sentences are provided throughout to promote oracy and allow children to focus on their reflections rather than formation of a sentence.
