This versatile and seasonal activity invites children to add the correct number of leaves to a series of numbered tree templates (1-10). Each tree has a numeral on its trunk, and children are encouraged to decorate the tree with that many leaves using a variety of tools and materials.

Perfect for autumn (falling leaves) or spring (new growth), this activity blends maths with creativity, while building fine motor skills and encouraging hands-on learning.

Children can be invited to add leaves to the trees in any of the following ways:

  • Printing with paint using fingertips, cotton buds, or sponge dabbers
  • Gluing collage materials such as tissue paper, buttons, paper leaves, sequins, or pom-poms
-Placing loose parts like beads, real leaves, pebbles, or nature finds
-Drawing or stamping leaves with crayons, pens, or stamps
