Help students prepare for their GCSE exams with this engaging, evidence-informed PSHE lesson exploring effective revision techniques and how memory works.
Designed for Year 11 students, this resource introduces practical strategies that can help students remember information for longer, revise more effectively and feel better prepared for their exams. The worksheet works well as A3 but can be used as A4, a PDF and editable version are included, but the activities can also be printed off separately if preferred.
The lesson includes:
An engaging memory starter activity exploring how we remember information.
An introduction to schemas and how organising and connecting knowledge can support learning.
Five evidence-informed revision techniques: retrieval practice, spaced practice, elaboration and connecting ideas, interleaving, and practice questions with feedback.
Practical examples and reflection activities to help students consider how they could apply each technique to their own revision.
A Revision Detective challenge in which students evaluate different revision habits and identify more effective approaches.
A final task challenging students to design their own seven-day revision plan.
The lesson encourages students to reflect on their existing revision habits, challenge common misconceptions and develop a more purposeful approach to exam preparation.
Suitable for GCSE PSHE, tutor time and exam preparation sessions.
