A perfect experiment for anytime of year but on frosty days in winter this really gets students thinking.

This science experiment allows students to test ‘What substances can accelerate the melting of ice?’ The students test salt, sugar, sand, and baking soda.

The resource includes:

A Google Slides presentation (The link is on the lesson plan)
A vocab sheet with pictures for EAL or LA students
An observation sheet
A sheet to record predictions and findings
A lesson plan
Keywords: Ice melting, salt melts ice, science experiment, visual and picture supports, special education curriculum and resources, liquid, solid, gas, melting, freezing, winter activities, states of matter

This is a tried and tested lesson and my students absolutely loved it. I hope your class will too!
