You are purchasing a series of lessons which will guide students to prepare for their speaking and listening assessments. This unit focuses on ‘What’s wrong with education’ however the editable version of the booklet is included so this can be changed if needed.

The PowerPoint guides the students through the unit, using the booklet as a key resource for students to record their ideas. Students will

  • Mind-map their ideas about the topic
  • Watch four varied speeches and take ideas from them
  • Go through the use of persuasive devices in the speeches watched
  • Plan an overview of their speeches
  • Plan each paragraph “stealing” ideas from the original discussion and the devices discussed
  • Write each paragraph then reduce each paragraph on to cue-cards

Thev 18 slide PowerPoint is included along with the 8 page booklet.

I used this unit with my year 10 in term 5 and it worked well in preparing them for their speeches quickly and allowing them to record their ideas in one place.
